The Great Taste Awards for 2004 have just been announced and tara's handmade quality foods, have won 4 medals for their cookies, cakes and snacks. The Great Taste Awards being the Oscars of the fine food world.

Tara's is a small, two year old company in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, where they make the best of natural, delicious cakes, cookies and snackfood. They use local Irish produce, including free-range eggs, and unadulterated flour, and don't believe in unnecessary preservatives, colourings or other additives. They believe in their products and have filled a niche in the market for them.

They are the only Irish winners in the cake, biscuit and snackfood categories this year, competing against the bigger companies of Ireland and the U.K.

“Following our success in 2003, when we were delighted to win 2 medals – to double our tally in our second year has been unbelievable.” Tara Breen, the founder was ecstatic on hearing the news. “We now have won medals for products in each of our ranges.”

This year they have won Silver medals for their Baileys and RazzCherry shortbread cookies. In addition to these, last years bronze medal wining Passion Log has been upgraded to Silver this year. Tara was very proud to hear of the Bronze medal accreditation for her unique Irish-Indian snack food, Namkin, which lately featured in Food and Wine's Hot 100. Not forgetting the Gold medal already achieved for the Chocolate and Walnut Brownie.
